ABSTRACT (one paragraph)

            A brief summary paragraph of what your report is about.

 

SECTION I: INTRODUCTION (one page suggested)

            A brief summary of your observations and experiences.

 

SECTION II: METHODS AND MATERIALS (one page suggested)

            1) A list of all equipment and materials you used

            2) A description of the date recording methods you used (i.e., Diary or Checklist Format).

            3) A description of the sampling methods you used (i.e., Ad Lib or Focal Animal Sampling)

            3) Include the exact procedures you used, as well as information about the zoo setting that you

                        observed the primate in.

 

SECTION III: BACKGROUND INFORMATION (two to three pages suggested)

            1) Classification of the Primate species you observed

            2) Description of the individuals you studied

            3) Some summary research concerning the species you observed, including geographic origin,

                        diet, social organization, etc.

 

SECTION IV: RESULTS (two to three pages suggested)

            1) Describe the results of your observations.

            2) Include a summary of the checklists you filled out, and of any additional notes made.

            3) Also include summaries concerning the main observation categories we discussed, including:

                        a. Dominance Hierarchies (who was in charge, and how they enforced it)

                        b. Communication Methods (who was saying what to who)

                        c. Aggressive and Affiliative Strategies (who fought with who, or made nice to who)

                        d. Reproductive Strategies (who was going out with who)

                        e. Mother and Infant Relationships (who was a good mother, and how she did it)

                       

SECTION V: DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS (one page suggested)

            Tell me what the results you described above mean about the species you observed. Tell me what

            life is like for the individuals you studied, and what goes on in a typical day for them. Summarize

            the important points of your report.

 

APPENDIX

            Include copies of your data checklists, and any photos, drawings, or notes you want to include.
